In 2005, the folklore festival “Because we miss spring” started as a partnership with Radio Romania Craiova, the festival being divided into the following two sections: vocal singer and instrumentalist folk music player, while targeting secondary school children and high school teenagers, all of them aged 12 to 18. Competitors from Caracal and neighboring places participated in the first editions of the festival, but later it also started addressing competitors from other counties in Romania.

The main objective of the organizers of “Because we miss spring” is to identify and recruit as many children and teenagers as possible, from all around the country, whose interpretative talent of Romanian folklore has been revealed and, at the same time, the festival can turn into the starting point of their musical career.
